Responsibilities

Ready To  Own Platform Reliability, Complex Incident Resolution, and Technical Mentorship Across a Critical Healthcare Data Operation?

Why This Role Matters

When data platforms fail in healthcare, the downstream impact is immediate — clients miss SLAs, members lose access to benefits data, and teams scramble. This Senior Data Engineer role is the technical anchor that prevents that: resolving the complex incidents others can’t crack, driving root cause remediation that sticks, and building the team’s capability through mentorship and knowledge sharing. You bridge operational support and engineering excellence — and the stability of the platform reflects it.

What You'll Actually Do

Own complex incident resolution: Serve as the team’s primary technical escalation point for production data platform issues — performing root cause analysis, driving remediation, and preventing recurrence.

Monitor and manage data file exchanges: Track file movements between clients, vendors, and internal systems — identifying and resolving errors in SFTP connections, import/export files, and eligibility files before they escalate.

Analyze and troubleshoot EDI transactions: Diagnose technical issues from enrollment changes or improper EDI setup, coordinate resolution with engineering partners, and manage ongoing EDI testing, implementations, and upgrades.

Validate data against business requirements: Compare reports and data files against documented requirements to surface quality gaps and keep pipelines accurate and compliant.

Drive continuous improvement: Identify patterns in operational issues and lead initiatives that improve platform stability, reliability, and team efficiency over time.

Mentor junior engineers: Share technical knowledge, provide hands-on guidance, and build team capability through deliberate coaching and knowledge transfer.

Communicate status clearly across teams: Keep end users, the Team Lead, and the DataOps Manager informed on issue status — translating technical findings into plain language that operational teams can act on.
